Livonia Hockey Association Board
The board members of the Livonia Hockey Association (LHA) undergo election by the General Membership annually in March during the general membership meeting. Board members are elected to serve a term of two years, with potential for up to eight members to be elected each year, thus constituting a board of maximum sixteen members. In the event of vacancies, the LHA president is authorized to make appointments as necessary.

Brad has been involved in hockey since 1990, with extensive coaching and playing experience. He has served on the Livonia Hockey Association (LHA) board twice, focusing on restoring its status as a top destination for hockey families.
As president, Brad aims to achieve this goal, as evidenced by the LHA's Top 3 finish in Association of the Year (2022-2023) under his leadership. Membership has impressively grown by 25% during his tenure. Brad currently coaches the 2011 Knights and plays in the Over 30 League.
Outside of hockey, he enjoys fishing, woodworking, and spending quality time with his family, emphasizing a well-rounded lifestyle that balances sports and personal interests.

Shelly-Ann began her hockey journey in Minnesota, progressing from Learn to Skate to Little Wild and Mini Mites. She organized a fun event for families as part of the local Hockey Association's Mite Jamboree.
In Michigan, she joined Livonia Hockey in 2020 as Team Manager for her son’s 10U team. Shelly-Ann now serves on the board to support new Team Managers.
Married to James, she has three kids, all in Hockey! Lucas, Olivia, and Paxton. She is also a Director on the MAHA D4 Council.
Katie Hersh

Girls Competitive Travel Director
Katie Hersh is the Treasurer of the Livonia Hockey Association and manages her daughter's travel team. Living in Livonia with her husband and three daughters, she is active in the local hockey community. After Piper discovered her love for hockey at a Try Hockey Free event, Katie took up the sport herself, recently joining a women's league.
As a board member since 2022, she ensures the Association's financial health while supporting the girls' program as interim Girls Travel Director. Outside of hockey, she is a VP of Finance for Rocket Companies and was honored in Detroit Business Magazine's 30 in their Thirties

Chris has been Secretary since 2018. His primary areas of focus within the organization have centered around skills training and skating, emphasizing the crucial importance of mastering proper technique.
He has a deep connection to officiating, as his son's enthusiasm has motivated him to pursue his referee certification. Furthermore, Chris has demonstrated a long-term commitment to the organization by continuing to serve as an Assistant Coach for multiple girls' teams, even after his children have outgrown the youth hockey program.

Sara Stacey
Sara has played hockey for over 30 years, mainly in Tier 1 leagues, including five years with the Windsor Wildcats. She also played for Ladywood High School and attended several USA select camps. Currently, Sara competes in women’s hockey and participates in the Women's Nationals. Since 2009, she has coached at Belle Tire 19u AAA and at various youth and high school levels. As a level 4 coach and girls' director, she focuses on player development and growing girls' hockey, sharing her passion and knowledge with young athletes.

Daniel has been involved in the LHA hockey community for 7 years. He brings a wealth of experience, having served as a team manager, assistant coach, and head coach for various girl's teams (8U-14U).
Daniel’s coaching focus is on girls hockey, skill development, and fostering a love for the game. This year marks his second year on the LHA board, where he serves as Girls Recreational Travel Director and Website Director, contributing to the program’s growth and success.

Karen and her family became part of LHA in 2018 when her son, Zack, first joined the program. Over the years, she has enjoyed supporting his teams, including serving as a team manager for the past two seasons, and she looks forward to continuing in that role this year with his travel team. This season marks Karen’s second year serving on the LHA Board, where she will be contributing her time and energy to Fundraising & Sponsorship, the Grievance Committee, and supporting as a Rec Travel Director.

Beth Ann is a lifelong Livonia resident, a wife, and a proud mom of two boys. Her youngest son is heading into his seventh season playing hockey with the Livonia Knights, and she has spent three of those seasons actively involved as a hockey manager. This is Beth Ann's first year serving on the LHA board and will be serving as the Travel Director and Safe Sport Coordinator. In addition, she will be part of the Grievance, Compassionate Funds, Parent Planning, and Welcoming committees.
Outside of the rink, Beth Ann works full time as a Director of Claims and has over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry. At the rink, she enjoys cheering on the team and playing music during games, keeping the energy positive for the players and fans alike. Additionally, Beth Ann has joined LHA's Adult IP (Instructional Program for beginners).
When she's not at the rink, Beth Ann enjoys cooking and spending time with family and friends.
Dan Waterbury
Dan Waterbury serves as a Girls Hockey Director for the Livonia Hockey Association, where he is committed to growing and strengthening girls hockey at every level. With a passion for player development and a focus on creating positive experiences, Dan works to provide opportunities for young athletes to build their skills, confidence, and love for the game.
As Girls Director, Dan collaborates with coaches, players, and families to foster a supportive and competitive environment that emphasizes skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth. He is dedicated to ensuring that every player has the resources and guidance needed to reach their potential both on and off the ice.
Through his leadership and commitment to the hockey community, Dan strives to expand participation in girls hockey and help create a culture where athletes can develop lifelong friendships, valuable life skills, and a lasting passion for the sport. His goal is to provide a rewarding and enjoyable hockey experience for all families involved in the Livonia Hockey Association.
Evan LaCross
Coach Development
Evan has been involved in coaching hockey since his family joined LHA in 2018. He has been a head coach for 6 years, starting at 10u, now coaching 16u this year with his two sons Austin (2011) and Jacob (2012). He grew up playing competitive baseball, but his true love was hockey. Self-described as a “pond rocket” he played for his high school varsity team as a junior at Canton H.S.
He is actively involved in assisting on the ice with the Little Wings and Learn to Play programs that help develop skating and hockey skills for both youth and adults looking to enter the sport.
When he isn’t at the rink, Evan can be found in the office as the Corporate Controller for Domestic Uniform, or figuring out the next adventure to take his family on.
This is Evan’s first year on the Board, serving as a Blue Puck House Director, as well as the Bylaws, Coach Development, and Grievance Committee’s.

I am proud to serve as the Director of Recreation Travel and a long-standing board member for Livonia Hockey. With a lifelong passion for hockey, I have been fortunate to contribute to the sport in various capacities. I have been coaching with Livonia Hockey for the past 8 years, and my experience as a player and involvement with hockey throughout my life have shaped my dedication to the game.
In my roles as a coach and board member, I have been committed to promoting skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship within our hockey community. As the Director of Recreation Travel, I am focused on providing a positive and rewarding experience for our players and families, fostering a love for the game, and creating a supportive and inclusive environment for all involved.
I am honored to continue serving our organization and look forward to working with the Livonia Hockey community to further enhance our program and our young athletes' experiences.
Shawna DeNoyer
Shawna’s hockey journey began in 2016 when her 5 year old son had the opportunity to skate at Joe Louis Arena. Shortly after, he joined his first team at LHA where his passion continued to grow. Along the way, Shawna has enjoyed learning the sport and cheering him on every step of the way.
Wanting to give back to the hockey community that has meant so much to her family, She became a Board Member in 2023, serving as Social Media Director. She helps promote events, celebrate players and teams, and strengthen community engagement throughout the association. Shawna is passionate about supporting youth hockey and creating a positive experience for players and families both on and off the ice.
John James
John James serves as Hockey Director for the Livonia Hockey Association, where he is dedicated to helping players develop their skills, confidence, and passion for the game. With a strong commitment to youth hockey, John focuses on creating a positive, competitive, and development-driven environment for athletes of all ages and skill levels.
In his leadership role, John works closely with coaches, players, and families to enhance player development, support coaching education, and strengthen the overall hockey experience within the organization. He believes in building not only better hockey players but also strong teammates and responsible young leaders through the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline, and hard work.
John is passionate about growing the game of hockey within the Livonia community and strives to provide every player with opportunities to learn, improve, and enjoy the sport. His focus on player development and community engagement helps ensure that the Livonia Hockey Association remains a welcoming and successful destination for hockey families.
Joe Coogan

Joe began skating at 4 in 1979 and played Mini Mites at Allen Park. Progressing from Tier 3 to Tier 2, he skated with APHA, Paddock Pools, and Southgate until Midgets. He coached Little Wings and Hockey Hockey for his daughters and joined LCFH as an assistant coach, winning the 2021/22 LCAHL playoffs.
In 2023, he joined LHA, winning two tournaments and a District 4 Championship. Now on the BOD, he serves as Travel Director and Goalie Development Coordinator, enhancing goalie programs.

Carrie's family joined LHA in 2015 when her son Austin started in IP. Her husband Evan has coached for 4+ years, Austin plays defense for 14u, and Jacob is a goalie for 12u/14u. Carrie has been assistant manager for 3 years, recently joined adult hockey, and plays in a women's league.
She works as a paraprofessional with 13 ASD students at Churchill High School. New to the board, she serves as SafeSport Coordinator and Recreational House Director, focusing on making everyone feel welcome in the LHA hockey family.
Jason Vogelsberg

Jason's family joined LHA in 2023 when his oldest son Alex started in Little Wings. He was the Head Coach for the Spring 2024 8U team, finishing as playoff Runners Up. He assisted the 8U Knights White last Fall, and is currently the Head Coach for the 10U Knights Red.
This is his first year on the board, and he will be one of our Blue Puck Directors, as well as Player Development Coordinator. He has worked in the Mortgage Industry for 18 years, and in his free time you can usually find him at the rink, or spending time with his family.

The Livonia Hockey Association (LHA) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that has been an integral part of our community for many years. Its mission is to promote and develop recreational opportunities for the youth of the City of Livonia and beyond, to encourage citizenship and fellowship through ice hockey, and to promote good sportsmanship and physical well-being through organized competitions.
The LHA offers a positive learning experience for boys and girls, with qualified adult leadership in a safe, healthy, and fun environment. The association provides programs for beginner skaters and for those who seek more competitive opportunities.
All individuals involved with the LHA are volunteers who are committed to the idea that shaping the future generation and their positive contribution to the community is more important than winning.
